Panel: Avoiding Another AI Winter: Human Factors Considerations

Track: Hospital Environments

Artificial Intelligence (AI) continues to generate interest due to the hope of what can be accomplished through its application. For decades it has been hailed as a potential solution to complex healthcare challenges, but implementation methods have been met with disappointing results. We are experiencing a new wave of interest and hype. These cycles have come to be known as AI Winters.

There is a plethora of opportunities to apply AI to healthcare, yet if done without human factors consideration, this may cause severe consequences to patient safety. This panel will highlight potential applications of AI in healthcare while also discussing how Human Factors can augment its design and application.
