Director, Director of Program Operations, NPI and Software

Flex is seeking a Director of Program Operations, NPI and Software, to join our talented and dynamic product development group and play a critical role in creating the next generation of advanced medical technologies.

The position will provide overall leadership and management of the Hollis Design Center’s program management, NPI and software engineering functions. This key role, as a member of the site leadership team, will be challenged to effectively lead the team functional resources required to support the growth of the medical segment through the successful development and transfer of products into manufacturing. You will oversee the day-to-day functional management, efficiency and process improvements, success and growth of the teams and contribute to the culture and drive towards a world class operation. The role will also be highly collaborative with the broader Flex design and manufacturing teams to develop and align best in class processes and execution of product development programs. This is a key role in improving and maintaining our product development execution, predictability and outcomes while supporting a world class quality organization.

Here is a glimpse of what you’ll do…
  • Development of team members; recognition and analysis of individuals’ strengths and areas for improvement; and an ability to manage misalignment between individuals and/or groups.
  • Guide, train, and mentor personnel within the departments to ensure the correct level of knowledge and understanding of existing and new methodologies. Champion a continuous improvement culture/mindset concerning project delivery.
  • Develop clear and measurable goals and objectives to quantify, track and report project status and team performance.
  • Supervise team activities and assists in establishing priorities for projects in keeping with effective operations and cost factors. Refocus teams as necessary to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Create and lead multi-disciplinary program strategies using your technical and program management expertise.
  • Promote a concurrent engineering approach throughout the organization. 
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentoring regarding all facets of product development and program management to team members.
  • Implements tools and processes to monitor departmental cost and cost trends, striving continuously to improve value.
  • Collaborate with other design centers, manufacturing site leaders and program management leads to design and implement best in class processes.
Here is some of what you’ll need (required)...
  • Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical, biomechanical, software or electrical engineering.
  • 10+ years of experience in the engineering of complex electro-mechanical products and transfer to production.
  • 10+ years of management experience; strong leadership attributes.
  • 10+ years in medical device or regulated industry.
  • Outstanding technical and operational leadership skills, Recognized experience leading complex systems and risk analysis.
  • Understanding of product/process development, verification, and validation techniques and tools.
  • Holds the team and oneself accountable for achieving the results expected by stakeholders and customers.
  • Proficient in developing and managing work breakdown structures and general project management skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed to support the business (10-20%).
  • Demonstrated skills in project management and ability to train others to lead projects.
  • Integrity, judgment, and the ability to hold one’s ground under pressure.
  • Proven experience achieving results through others and managing a wide range of individuals is required.
  • Strong technical analytical skills including FMEA, statistical methods, and Six Sigma techniques.
