Organ Care System

Farm collaborated with TransMedics in developing the world's first and only system that allows a living organ transplant. The Organ Care System is designed to maintain organs in a functioning state outside the human body to optimize their health and to allow real time clinical evaluation for the first time. The portable platform houses all elements of the system, including oxygen supply and a pump used to maintain the flow of warm, nutrient-rich blood to the organ. Hot swappable, operator exchangeable batteries provide full system power during transport. Since it is critical for the technician to be able to monitor and assess the organ during transport, a detachable, wireless monitor was integrated to control and display system functions. Farm created a removable cart to allow for portability and the system was built out of carbon fiber to be ultra lightweight for easy moving and lifting.
