Mammography System

Farm worked with Hologic in the development of their next generation mammography system, featuring “Tomosynthesis” technology. Observational research and one-on-one interviews assisted Farm with understanding the habits and practices of technicians, as well as understanding how patients interact with the device. These findings led to the creation of a new “flush” form by integrating patient interaction areas into the enclosure to greatly improve patient comfort. Controls were redesigned to enhance ease of use and system motion, and were strategically placed to avoid patient’s inadvertent contact while optimizing user access.

In addition, Farm developed an entirely new workstation with an array of new features, including an enhanced graphical touch screen interface and proprietary x-ray exposure controls that greatly eliminate repetitive joint motion and user fatigue. The ergonomic improvements integrated with a new design language to leverage Hologic’s brand equity in the market and highlight the new “Tomo” technology represent a significant leap forward in women’s healthcare.
